The middle pair looks like some of those geriatric shoes my grandmother used to wear- what were they? SAS shoes? Hilarious looking but entirely practical for tight white or sheer skirts. To be clear here, I meant the bandelettes were practical, not that my grandmother wore a lot of sheer skirts. If she did, then Heyyyy-ohhhh Grandma!! I bought some of the black ones, the Onyx kind, because chub rub is a real issue in my life and in the summer a pair of leggings or shorts is just too hot under a maxi.
Keep in mind that those prices are not US Dollars. My pair cost me $30.74 including shipping from the UK (which took an extra week or two to get) so if you're looking for a bargain here- you're not going to get it in the US. Ive had these now for a few weeks and have worn them once a week or so just to make sure I broke them in well. I ordered the largest size (F 31"-32") because I have serious thighs.. well, and I measured them. As soon as I got them, I unwrapped them as I was making dinner and put them on over my trousers. My boyfriend laughed, I laughed and we all had a good time
First lets talk about quality: Those silicone bands to keep them up? Not a joke! I had to peel the sides apart from one another so those bad boys are not messing around. The lace? Good quality and soft. That's really all there is to these little cuties. I didnt see any wear from rubbing on the lace after a week so hopefully that trend continues.
The fit: As I said, I tried them on first over my trousers so I was worried that I had gotten them a little too big, but nope. I put them on my bare legs and it was a good fit. I've had a lot of thigh highs in my day and getting a pair that fit without rolling down or falling down after some movement is a bit of a trick. These bandelettes were easier to keep up. I wont say perfect, they definitely rolled a little, but once I got them situated right we were okay.
The feel: At first there is the whole, "what in the hell have I done in my life to get to this place and put these things on my legs" thing you have to get over. Soon enough though, I felt a little sexy. So weird how these things go from one extreme to the other- I'm sure its the lace. Eventually I was walking around like I had a little secret on that nobody knew about. Like thigh highs without the trouble of thigh highs. Like heeyyy mister in the elevator *wink wink*.
Any Cons? As expected, I walked like a baby deer at first hoping that I wasn't going to get on the elevator with that cute guy from the 3rd floor and some weird black lace thing roll down my leg and fall out of my skirt. They take some getting used to and a lot of trust. They cover a little less on my thigh than the thinner thighs in the pictures so there is still some rubbing. I'm afraid that if I started to sweat (maybe out on a summer patio), the silicone bands may not hold well, but there isn't much sweating that happens in my 9-5 office so I couldn't fully test that theory.
Would I recommend? Yes, but make sure to measure! If you've ever had an issue with chub rub then you know the pain and horror. It is nice to have something that is so lightweight and a little bit sexy to fix a very not so sexy problem. I wouldn't recommend for days with a lot of walking, because they simply dont cover enough surface area for me to eliminate all rubbing issues. Maybe we can talk them into making some cut like Spanx but without the sacrificing of internal organs tightness?
